Audio Crackles On Playback

Lung Crackles Audio

I recently picked up a 16GB Ipod Touch and one for my wife. When I first started using it it sounded fine, but after several sync cycles with more stuff I noticed that the highs and lows would have static in them and the sound was distorted. Sort of like the recording input level was too high for the unit, or that it was overdriving the output. A chat with tech support and a full reset seemed to cure it, but it slowly started coming back and I had to reset it again. This is getting annoying. I paid big money for this thing and I expected better.

Jan 24, 2008 I've had the same or similar problem. I got an 8GB IPod Touch for Christmas. It worked fine for a day or so and then the audio cut out and all I. Random pops and crackles are generally the sign that static is building up either in a cable or a connection point and discharging. This is particularly bad in the.

I think it's a FW issue. Anybody have any ideas, or experience? I'll be having another chat with Apple on this. Windows XP Posted on Dec 25, 2007 7:20 AM.

I've had the same or similar problem. I got an 8GB IPod Touch for Christmas.

It worked fine for a day or so and then the audio cut out and all I had was a static click, click, click. I've found that when it happens and I gently tap on the back of the touch with my fingernail, the sound comes back fine. I had turned on the EQ and set it for spoken word for my audio books but I've turned EQ off now and we'll see what happens. It seems that if I'm very gentle and don't move it around, it works fine. But so far I've been able to fix it with the gentle tap.

I'm wondering if I should be looking at sending it back - it's been engraved through the Apple Store so they would have to replace that as well. Is this a common problem? Darkstorm Vip Keygen Photoshop here. Something just to live with? Looking for feedback.

I've made sure that the headphones are in very tight. Where I have to tap it to get sound back on is on the back at the top end - away from the headphone jack. If I tap there, I can get the sound to go off or on. When I tap it, it snaps, crackles.

It takes such a gentle tap either way just with my nail. Fire Pro Wrestling G English Rom there. It sounds like an electrical snap.

Once the sound is on, it stays on unless I move it around to much or too quickly. I've tried to find a place to email Apple to ask them if I have to return it directly to them or if I can take it somewhere here for repair but I don't know where to contact them. I'd appreciate any help.

Dec 28, 2007 5:58 PM. It was bought for me straight from Apple. I've been able to get the sound back until tonight. It's gone now. If I turn it up full volume I can hear there's something there behind all the static but no amount of tapping is getting the sound clear again.

I did ask Apple for online support and they will be sending me instructions to return the ipod touch for a complete replacement at no cost to me, under warranty (including the engraving on the back). Obviously there is something wrong with this one. I did try another set of ear phones to check that and it was the same.

I also put just one song on it as opposed to audiobooks - and that was after a complete factory restore. The same thing happens. I can't hear the music over the staticky click, click, click, click, click. So, I'll go back to my old mp3 player for a while until I get my replacement. I'm going to miss it. I really do like all the features. Dec 29, 2007 9:18 PM.

I visited the Apple Store and they put in an escalation. The guy at the store mentioned that it sounded like it could be a phase shift error in the encoding/decoding process. I'm thinking the decoding, hardware (iTouch)side, as the decoding in the iTouch is hardware driven, not software. It really seemed to become prevalent when I was importing AIFF and Apple Lossless files to the Touch. Maybe it can't handle them. Bitrates of 900kbps and up.

I know it says it can in the specs, but hey. It wouldn't be the first time I've found the specs aren't always accurate on aproduct. I'll see what they have to say to me after the engineers mull over it. I'm hoping it'll be a FW fix issue, and time will correct it. In the mean time I've downgraded all my lossless files to AAC 256Kbps VBR in the hopes that it will solve the issue. If so, then I've found a limitation to the iTouch.

I'll trya nd update as I learn more. Thanks for all the input so far. BTW, I'm seriously considering in the next year or so, of upgrading to a MacBook Pro, and ditching my XP powered PC.

Jan 19, 2008 8:14 PM. I returned it due to this same issue. From what I can tell, it sounds like a phase shift error. It would have to do with the on board DAC in the iTouch. From what I've read, it doesn't seem limited to the iTouch either. I've read about a simialr issue with the 60G iPod video. Well, I guess I wait for Apple to get back to me, but I don't expect them to admit there is something wrong.
