HI, I have an HP OfficeJet g55 all in one printer. Since upgrading to Windows`10, the scan function is not available. Windows 10 recognizes the printer but claims to have no scanner attached. This worked fine on Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. The HP support site indicates that they do no have a dedicated driver for this device for Windows 10 and that I should use the Windows 10 built in driver - which I assume is what is already installed and identifying the printer but not the scanner. Any help would be appreciated Cheers Joe. Hi Joe, Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern and I am glad to assist you. Try this: Credit to HP Forum: On the Scan to Computer More Info button, I saw that it needed a unique name for your computer. I checked the new computer and saw that it had no name at all (found under the Sharing icon in System Preferences). Once I gave it a new name, I restarted the HP Utility software and selected scan and it instantly said 'Scan to Computer is Enabled' with the green button lit. If the issue persist then proceed with the suggestions below. I would suggest you to uninstall and re-install the drivers and check if it helps for you.

Also run the program in compatible mode and check Right-click on the driver setup file that you downloaded from HP driver download site and click on ‘ properties’. Click on the ‘ compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘ Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 7/8 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists. Hope this post is helpful. Get back to us with the results.

We are happy to help. Thanks & Regards Joy. Hi there Many thanks for the prompt reply. However my computer does have a name. Also you suggest: Right-click on the driver setup file that you downloaded from HP driver download site and click on ‘ properties’. There is no download available from HP, their website advises to use the built in windows driver. I was also unable to follow most of your mail.
