Welcome to THE ORIGINAL and only Official Excelsior-Henderson Motorcycles Registry which started at the factory in 1999. As the early Serial Number waiting list! Norman frame number is numbers only - eg 123 but the Excelsior incorporated the model name which is O prefixed by a letter relating to year - eg HO/ 1234, JO/1234 etc. Since it's the new year of 2015, felt it was time to put this serial number log together. Final drive was via a leather belt to the rear wheel. This first Excelsior had a top speed of between 35 and 40 mph. The 'X' Series. In 1910, Excelsior introduced an engine configuration they would become famous for, and one they would produce until 1929: the notable 'X' series. Okay, you probably have heard about this list and maybe have never seen. This is an internal list that was put together by the factory Dealer Support team led by Dave Danielson.
This specific list was created by Shawn Bailey in an effort to provide support to dealers and riders so that he would know the timeframe the bike was built as there were running changes on the assembly line, and not all serial numbers were in perfect sequence. Dealers and Road Crew, investors, etc. All had various serial number and build order sequence, so the numbering may be linear however the build schedule is not.
